ICAO 9303 Passport Readers and Verification Kiosks for Integrators

MRZ/OCR imaging and RFID chip access for e-passports, in desktop, embedded and kiosk form factors — plus purpose-built self-service enclosures for check-in, e-gate assistance and secure visitor verification, backed by Windows and Linux SDKs.

Hardware for Identity Workflows

Reliable Document Capture, Delivered to Your Platform

🛂

ICAO 9303 Reading

Full-page OCR captures the MRZ of passports, visas and ID cards; ISO 14443 RFID reads e-passport chips and exposes the data groups to your application.

🔎

Multi-Spectrum Imaging

Visible, infrared and, on supported models, UV images give verification software the raw material for forgery and consistency checks.

🧩

SDK / API First

Documented Windows and Linux SDKs with parsed fields, images and chip data, plus joint debugging with our software engineers.

🖥️

Kiosk Integration

Readers ship as desktop units or embedded modules inside self check-in, bag-drop assist, e-gate assist and visitor-management enclosures.

🧬

Biometric Add-Ons

Camera and fingerprint capture modules let your enrollment or verification application add face and fingerprint steps in the same terminal.

🛡️

Compliance Support

CE/FCC/RoHS standard products under ISO 9001, with component documentation and extra testing coordinated for tender-driven projects.

Integration & Compliance

A Clear Division of Responsibility

MHY manufactures and certifies the hardware — document readers, kiosk enclosures, computing platforms and fitted peripherals — and provides the SDK/API layer. Authentication decisions, biometric matching, watchlist checks, border-system connectivity and authority approval are implemented by the deploying agency together with its system integrator. This model keeps your application independent while guaranteeing a repeatable, documented, factory-supported hardware supply.

Deployment Path

Engineering Support for Tender-Grade Projects

1

Requirement Review

Document types, data fields, biometric steps and authority requirements are translated into a BOM.

2

SDK Evaluation

Evaluation readers and SDK samples let your engineers prove MRZ, image and RFID integration early.

3

Kiosk Prototyping

Embedded readers and peripherals are integrated into a prototype enclosure for field trials.

4

Pilot & Testing

Joint debugging, environmental and reliability tests, plus documentation packs for tender compliance.

5

Certified Production

Required certifications coordinated; locked BOM and line QC ensure unit-to-unit consistency.

6

Long-Term Supply

Spare readers and modules, firmware support and stable revision control across the program lifecycle.

FAQ

Airport & Border Control Questions

Do your passport readers comply with ICAO 9303 standards?
MHY ID/passport readers are designed around ICAO Document 9303: they read the Machine Readable Zone through full-page OCR imaging, access e-passport chips through ISO 14443 RFID, and handle passports, visas, national ID cards and other machine-readable travel documents. Readers are supplied as hardware components with SDKs; biometric matching, watchlist checks and other government applications run on the integrator's platform.
Which document data does the reader provide through its SDK?
The SDK exposes the parsed MRZ fields, high-resolution document images (visible and infrared), UV imaging on supported models and RFID chip data such as the e-passport data groups for the application to validate. Interfaces and samples are provided for Windows and Linux so integrators can connect check-in, border-control, visa and visitor-management systems.
Can you supply complete kiosks for airport self-service or e-gate projects?
Yes. Beyond standalone and kiosk-mounted readers, MHY builds self-service enclosures configured with passport readers, boarding-pass scanners, cameras, fingerprint capture, contactless payment, ticket/card dispensers and accessibility features for self check-in, bag-tag assistance, e-gate assist and visitor verification. Tender-driven government and airport programs are normally delivered with a local system integrator responsible for software and on-site compliance.
What about certification and compliance for airport and border deployments?
Standard MHY products are CE, FCC and RoHS compliant and built under ISO 9001 quality management. Airport and border programs frequently impose additional requirements, which vary by country and authority; for OEM/integrator projects we support the required component selection, documentation, test reports and additional certification. Final approval against local border, security or accessibility standards rests with the deploying authority and integrator.
